CAMON HOUDINI

From the racetrack to the world stage of elite eventing, former Waterhouse-trained galloper Camon Houdini has carved out an extraordinary second career.

Known as “Hughie” at home and competing under the name Humble Glory, the talented gelding has been partnered by Victorian eventer Sophia Hill since 2017, with the pair rising through the ranks together to become one of Australia’s leading international combinations.

Hughie has competed at four of the world’s seven prestigious five-star events, showcasing the athleticism, toughness and versatility that thoroughbreds are so renowned for beyond racing.

His impressive results include:

3rd place – Adelaide 5*
22nd place – Burghley 5* (UK)
6th place – Maryland 5* (USA)
10th place – Kentucky 5* (USA)

The pair were also named as reserve combination for the Paris Olympic Games, a testament to their consistency and performances on the world stage.

Sophia describes Hughie as a “horse of a lifetime”, admired internationally for his incredible jumping ability and fearless cross-country performances.

“He just keeps getting better,” Sophia said.

Looking ahead, the partnership has their sights firmly set on the upcoming World Championships in Aachen, Germany, with long-term ambitions of competing at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Sophia is also currently seeking owners and supporters to join Hughie’s journey as he continues competing at the elite level of international eventing. Click here for ownership opportunities.

We are incredibly proud to see another retired racehorse thriving in life after racing and wish Sophia and Hughie the very best for the exciting road ahead.
