Serpentine, Saturday 7th October, Flemington, Race 7: I was once again tempted by Ambassadorial as I think he’s well in on Saturday, but he does need to take that next step to Stakes company. I am also really looking forward to seeing Hoo Ya Mal over 1900 metres but under weight for age conditions, the likes of Montefilia are extremely well in at the weights so he isn’t perfectly ‘playing by the rules’. I’ve gone with Serpentine again because he’s suitably weighted, he’s third up and I think the track and trip are ideal. I am hopeful Ben Melham will settle him closer to the pace this week, although it does look as though there will be a lot of speed so that’s my only query. We have applied the blinkers so if they have the desired effect and he’s closer in the run, I think he will be tough to beat. |
