Rick grew up in the Southern Highlands of NSW, first job was with William Inglis & Son Ltd as a pedigree consultant progressing through to head up a private sales department along with bid spotting under the fabled giant fig tree at Newmarket stables, Young Street Randwick. Through mentor Trevor Lobb - Rick joined Ingham Bloodstock - learning from Trevor Lobb and John Hawkes on the intricacies of the thoroughbred yearling - during that time Golden Slipper winner Forensics was among a host of stakes winners selected and bought. After the purchase of Woodlands Stud by Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Rick was asked to help form Patinack Farm during that time purchasing numerous winners including Group 1 winners All Too Hard, Nechita and Pear Tart. Over the past few years Rick has worked with Tony McEvoy as Bloodstock Manager being heavily involved in the selection and purchase of Group 1 winners Sunlight, Hey Doc, Manuel and Despatch
