| A long but pleasant day and an exciting one as well. Starting with track-work this morning there were some lovely pieces of work. Charing Cross (Fastnet Rock) and Al Aseel (Forestry) got the thumbs up from Mark and Tim. Master of Reality (Danehill Dancer) has jumped out of the ground in his last few gallops and Mark was glowing about his ability. A lovely colt is Tuxedo Royale (Encosta De Lago) who looked to be enjoying his work with an ultra fresh Joy Toy (Encosta De Lago). The babies are exciting. Steve likes the Strada/Wreckage gelding a lot, a yearling bought by astute owner/breeder Alan Bell. He matched strides with the Holy Roman Emperor/Nellie De Air colt and the Encosta De Lag/Dorado Deciever filly, the trio hitting the line inseperably. Broadway Dancer (Strada) is lovely and relaxed and Valleyofthekings (Redoute's Choice) is his perfect match. Still on Star's books, the Fastnet Rock/Desert Ibis filly won't be without owners for long. She is one of the most attractive and most forward yearlings we have on our books. All Pie Cart (Charge Forward) knows is to eat, sleep and run while Robyn said Pie Cart's partner the Royal Academy/Lady Fidelia gelding is "a darling with a lovely floating action". Auberzine (More Than Ready) and Lindstrom (Snitzel) are both perfect and Iridesse (Charge Forward) and the Hussonet/Fountain of Joy filly are lovely and quiet and good rides. Dee Been Nine (Red Ransom) and Ten Seconds (More Than Ready) made a fabulous pair for Glenlogan Stud who manage the pair. They flew the maroon and white flag high, one a gelding the other a colt, with both destined to win races in the next few weeks. Steve was delighted with Exceedingly Happy (Exceed and Excel) saying she was his best even though she is still learning. Nash cannot believe how Little Evie (Al Maher) has developed. She is quite typical of the breed, give them time and you receive your just rewards. Gooree's Kiss From A Rose (Encosta De Lago) Mark said she felt great and she trials next Tuesday. More Strawberries (More Than Ready) has taken time to get fit but she rocketed back today and her maiden hood certainly is in jeopardy this spring. The trials were worth attending, even if the grandstand at Randwick was rather damp and cold. Two outstanding Encosta De Lago colts were seen in Heat 5, Memorable Moments, and Heat 6 Mutamayez. Both are bred in the purple, they ran the same times and they looked dominant. These big, strong colts will debut in the coming weeks. The owners and the stable look forward to it with great anticipation. Theseo (Danewin) the champion older horse of Australia over the past two years had a nice easy trial and Nash was extremely happy saying the big horse had come back super for Star. Cups hope Herculian Prince (Yamanin Vital) ticks all the boxes and new-comer Two for Tea (Drama Critic), it will not be long before he wins on Australian soil. Yankee doodle Cannonball (Catienus) exploded from the barriers in his trial which he ran away to win by five lengths. The win was commanding and impressive and he resumes in the Missile Stakes on Saturday, 7 August. Caulfield and Melbourne Cups hope Descarado (High Chaparral) was watched in person by part-owner Ross Herron who was in Sydney on business from Melbourne. The further the AJC Derby place-getter goes the better he goes and he did it within himself. San Domenico Stakes contender Brightexpectations (More Than Ready) won his trial by a length and he was in charge from the gates to the post. Zutara (Encosta De Lago) impressed Neil amazingly. He said, "Gai you would not believe how much horse I had under me". Montana Flyer (Flying Spur) was not going to let the youngsters take the lime light. She won easy in good time and is back as big and as beautiful as ever. |
