Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing

The Start of the Breakers 2019

The first few weeks in January are always an exceedingly busy, yet tremendously rewarding, time of year at Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing. For close to two weeks, our team sifted through a thousand odd yearlings at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in search of colts and fillies with the potential to be our next champions. After inspecting the full catalogue, we were pleased to secure an exceptional group of 26 yearlings. 15 yearlings have already commenced the breaking in process under the experienced hands of Gordon Pratt and so far, the reports have been glowing.

Here’s what Gordon had to say.

I Am Invincible/Adaline, the half-brother to talented GWR trainee Adagirl, has proven to be the “best of the breakers” thus far. Gordon reported, “He has a kind, willing-to-please demeanour, which has made him a treat to start. The colt is a lovely type with a beautiful action and I’m very pleased with his progress. He would have to be my favourite yearling so far. He’s very sharp and precocious.”

Exceed And Excel/Miss Hufflepuff was a total professional at the sales, so it comes as no surprise that Gordon commented, “She has been very sensible about the girthing and mouthing process as she is quite smart. I like this filly a lot, she looks like a real speed horse and she’s very sharp.”

Vancouver/ Light Touch is a compact, solid colt with a big personality. Gordon mentioned that he has made good progress in his training, commenting, “This colt has a big engine and a cheeky attitude, but he loves to figure things out. He’s made huge progress since the beginning of the breaking in process and his improvement has been very pleasing to see.”

We were very excited to secure the I Am Invincible/Eimhis colt that is closely related to the MMGC 2YO Classic winner Exhilarates. So far, his temperament matches his classy pedigree, and Gordon detailed, “This is a very nice colt. He has taken the girthing and mouthing process well within his stride and has yet to put a foot wrong. He’s a quality colt.

Elated with our beautiful Vancouver/Never Forget colt, Gordon commented, “His attitude has really impressed me. He’s very quiet and forward thinking, which has made him a willing student during the breaking in process. He also picks things up very quickly. He’s an intelligent type.”

The future is bright for these rising stars. If you’d like to enquire about any of the above or purchased yearlings, please contact Claudia Miller, (claudia@gaiwaterhouse.com.au) for additional information.
